Until March 2020, Mari had split her time between Greenwich and NYC. However, the pandemic prompted her to seek refuge upstate for quarantine.

During this period, Mari daydreamed about constructing structures in natural settings, offering havens for people to unwind. The pandemic marked a bustling time for MBI, with increased screen time and reliance on technology, further motivating her to craft spaces for individuals to detach.

Mari currently hosts weekend getaways at two of her properties and is in the planning phase for designing more units on a horse farm in the Catskills
